Dr. Stewart Comer
Fellowship: Molecular Genetic Pathology at theMemorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Dr. Comer is PDL’s Medical Director and is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Dr. Comer attended UCSD as both an undergraduate and medical student. He was most recently the Medical Director of the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and Medical Director of the Western Regional Naval Health Research Laboratory. Interestingly, this is the lab where the H1N1 influence virus was first characterized. Dr. Comer completed a fellowship in Molecular Genetic Pathology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and has applied this to setting up molecular testing at the Naval Hospital in San Diego. He will take his boards in molecular pathology later this year. He also serves as the Medical Director of the PDL clinical laboratory and the hospital laboratories at Santa Barbara, Goleta Valley, and Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospitals.
